The role of the Legal & Corporate Affairs Department is to provide legal guidance on aspects of the service that enables achievement of growth objectives. Some responsibilities that may be associated with this role is the concept of Corporate Governance and its attained substantial prominence for systematic and well-organized management of day-to-day corporate affairs and complying with legal and regulatory necessities.
To enhance positive public image of the institution, the department through the Public Relations Unit used various media to disseminate information on activities, innovations and health promotions. Traditional media namely Television, Radio and Newspaper media houses from both public and private were engaged to undertake coverage of activities pertaining to the ZFDS. The Service has a Contact Centre office which consists of customer experience specialists who cover a wide variety of digital service channels. This team initiates interactions with clients through inbound and outbound calls, email, social media, text messaging, and more. These interactions enhance service delivery and promote client satisfaction.
The Department through its Business Development Unit ensures stakeholder collaborations are done on ensuring enhanced internal income generation for more service provision in the rural and hard to reach areas of the Country. The Service has also taken prudent steps in ensuring that as ZFDS we harness the power of digital technologies and health innovation to accelerate attainment of universal health Coverage to all parts of Zambia. This is done through the ICT department with the different innovations that ensure efficient and effective health Service delivery
The Functions of the Department include but are not limited to the following:
To provide legal advisory services of the Service as well as the Secretariat on the operations of the Service in terms of programs and administrative matters.
To provide Secretarial services and handle corporate governance matters relating to the ZFDS board.
To oversee and manage all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters of the Service in liaison with the other departments.
Responsible for management and supervision of litigation matters on behalf of the Service.
In addition to providing legal advice, a review of various legal documents, contracts, agreements, and conveyance documents is also done.
Engagement of Various stakeholders and partners for enhanced internal income generation for enhanced routine and specialized outreaches,
Enhancement of Visibility of the Service,
Enhancement of ICT innovations and digitalization of different aspects of the Service.
